This month I’ve chosen to read The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals with Soul by Danielle LaPorte. I’ll admit, this book has been sitting on my nightstand for a while now and I just haven’t cracked it open yet.
I first heard about Danielle when listening to the Rich Roll Podcast (episode 283) a few months back. The interview was great! Although we don’t see eye to eye on every topic, I love her straightforward approach to life. She learns as much as she can and implements what fits with her life. I’m notorious for jumping from one topic of self-improvement to another, wanting to do everything and ending up sitting on the sofa feeling guilty for “failing.”
The Desire Map is all about learning how to set healthy goals based on your biggest dreams and actually getting results! The difference is instead of making lists of things you want to achieve or obtain, you focus on how you want to feel in your life.
Instead of aiming for a goal of fitting into a size 6 dress, you focus instead on how you want to feel healthier or more energetic.
Instead of aiming for a six figure salary, you focus on finding a job that makes you feel fulfilled and challenged.
When we start looking at goals in this light, we open ourselves up to the possibility of new paths and opportunities that might not have fit the old goal box.
